Immunology

Immunology is the study of the functions of immune system in healthy and diseased states.

The role of the immune system is to limit or prevent infection by recognising and responding to danger signals present on, or released by, the infectious material (viruses and bacteria) or damaged cells.

The interplay between the many types of immune cells and inflammatory mediators is complex and is the focus of much research, using lymphocytes human and PBMCs, in understanding the processes involved and developing targeted therapy.
